Hi, I’m Taxi! I’m a lovely older quiet gentle girl, and I will make someone a great companion. I love my fosterers sofa to lie on in the evening but I’m happy to sleep on my bed during the day. I like to play ball but if there’s not one available, I will pick stones up my foster mum is stopping me do this as it is not good for my teeth. I’m generally happy and quiet but I am a bit nervous around new people, especially the little ones. I bark when I meet new people but I’m happy to say hello, I am used to living in a rural environment where things are not too busy and hectic.
Energy Requirements: Taxi doesn’t need a huge amount of exercise but she does love regular walks, and a good plod round the garden.
Training: Taxi has good recall and doesn’t stray far. She does pull on a short lead, but this is getting better.
Visiting the vet: Taxi has been through a lot recently, she had skin and ear problems when she first came to us and these are a lot better now. She has also had some teeth extracted and a few lumps and bumps removed. She is all patched up now and ready to go! Her vaccinations are up to date.
When visiting the vet taxi shakes but with encouragement and treats, she will settle.
Travelling: Taxi settles well in the car. She will shake when she first gets into the car but settles well.
Food: Taxi is currently being fed on Skinners chicken and rice with wet food added, and she likes treats especially cheese.
Sleep: Taxi sleeps on her fosters bed but would probably settle on her own bed next to yours.
Behavioural issues: No behavioural issues, just nervous around young children and strangers.
Home needs: Taxi needs a quiet home with someone around most of the time, she can be left for short periods but loves company, she would be fine to live with an older dog or be just as happy on her own, preferably in a rural or semi-rural area as that is what she’s used to. A good-sized secure garden would be perfect for pottering around in. An area with some interesting safe walks would be ideal, but nothing too strenuous.
Note: Taxi is still being prescribed steroids for her skin and ear conditions and this may be a long-term treatment. Assistance may be available.
Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.
