Long Term Foster - Ness

Some words from Ness’ fosterer…

Just over a year ago, SRS Ness arrived into foster care. She was stressed, over weight and in serious need of a haircut. She clearly had mobility issues, finding it difficult to get onto the sofa. And it was painful to watch her hobbling up the three garden steps.

The first week was fraught, as my puppy was a little annoying and SRS Ness was a little grumpy. But on day nine everything clicked into place and they have been firm friends ever since.

It became clear in the first few weeks, that SRS Ness was actually in a great deal of pain. She struggled to walk for more than five minutes. She then started limping quite badly. At this point it was decided that SRS Ness should stay in the care of SRS and remain in foster.

Over the past year, SRS Ness has had monthly appointments with a pain specialist and several physiotherapy treatments to help her live her best life. Funds were raised to buy a dog buggy, so she could accompany her sisters on longer walks. And she gratefully received donations of aids to help her get on the sofa and in and out of the car.

SRS Ness now enjoys walks of up to half an hour. We take each day as it comes and do as much or as little as she can manage. And on days like today, we have pyjama days and stick to pottering (or sitting!) in the garden.

Hopefully you'll be able to see how much SRS Ness has improved throughout the year. I make no apologies for the amount of photos and videos I have shared

SRS Ness and I would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the past year. None of this would have been possible without SRS and their supporters. X
