A little bit about Rosie: Rosie can be a little timid in new situations, she is a loving girl who loves to cuddle up beside you. She loves playing fetch with a ball and carrying her toy bone. She will give little woofs indicating she’d like whatever you have whether that’s food or an item of interest to her. She’s a thief and will steal items; this has included toilet roll / socks / specs / shoes she will give them back though at times she does need a biscuit to do this. She doesn’t guard items and if dropped she doesn’t mind you picking them up.
More about Rosie: She is house trained and can happily settle for a couple of hours in her cage. She will greet you on return with a woof. She is a little timid and can be nervous in new situations though settled fairly quickly. She currently sleeps in her cage upstairs near the bedrooms and previously slept on her bed in her owners’ room and did get to sleep on the owners bed. She sleeps all night.
She loves a walk and is initially a little excited she walks well on her figure of 8 lead. She currently gets two shorter walks and one good long walk each day. She does like a short walk first thing as she seems to prefer to do her business out of the garden. Her recall is very poor, but she does know her name. She’s a lively dog with lots of energy, loves the secure park for a good run around chasing her ball. She will lie down and rest either in her cage with the door open or on the sofa.
Rosie is timid around other dogs though her confidence is growing and she’s in foster with two female Springers. She pulls when she sees cats and would likely chase if she got the chance. She previously lived with a 9 year old child.
Rosie is currently living in a house which is busy and has people visiting. She does bark at visitors when they arrive while wagging her tail - she takes a little time to get to know them. She likes a Rich Tea biscuit, it’s a special treat. She is a slow eater and can be fussy - what she eats one day she turns her nose up the next however as she gets hungry, she does eat what she’s been given.
Visiting the vet: Rosie has had her routine healthcheck and is fit and well. She recently had a season so the ideal time for her to be spayed would be early November. She has a hernia which can be resolved at the same time as her spay. She was fine in the vets, and allowed the vet to thoroughly examine her. She is up to date with her vaccinations.
Behavioural issues: None reported, just a bit timid in new situations.
Home needs: Rosie is a young dog so she would like an active family, who will continue her training and enjoy daily interesting walks with her. Someone around most of the time would be good, as she does like company. She would be fine with older children, 8 years +, and would be fine with another friendly dog/s once introduced. No cats as she would probably chase them. A secure garden to practise training would be ideal.
Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.
