A little bit about SRS Ollie – Ollie is beautiful, happy, older boy. He loves being out walking and loves his food and likes to sleep in his bed between walks and feeding time. Ollie doesn’t look for attention, but he is happy to be in the room beside people.

Energy Requirements:  Ollie is currently getting 45 mins in the morning and 30 mins late afternoon, anything else is out in the garden, although he will head back to the car when he doesn't want to walk any more. Ollie wakes about 7.30/8 am, he likes to go in the garden first thing then has his breakfast. Around 9.30 he travels to an enclosed field where he roams around and has a roll in the grass, if he feels like heading to the car before time is up he will head back and wait, although isn't very good at getting in himself, then heads home and heads straight to bed.  He will get up if he smells food or is asked to go outside in the garden before his next walk, his next walk is 4pm, then gets fed at 6pm. He normally heads back to bed until a garden toilet break before bedtime.

Training: Ollie walks well on a lead. His recall is not great, but he may be a bit on the deaf side. Ollie is a slow older boy and knows all the usual commands, although his legs are not as good now, he is still young at heart and tries to engage in the chase!

Visiting the vet: Ollie has had his routine health check and has a few lumps and bumps, a large lump on his right hip which has been checked and is thought to be a fatty lump, it does not affect his movement. Ollie has arthritis and is on monthly Librella injections. He may benefit from additional pain relief. SRS will pay for his arthritis medications. His teeth may need some attention once he is settled.

Travelling:  Ollie lies in the back seat with a seat belt harness quite happily.

Food: Currently eating beef Wagg and half pouch of pedigree sachet morning and night

Sleep:  Ollie likes the big bed, although he will lie in his own bed when asked.

Behavioural issues: Ollie is quite a big solid boy and can move in on food or where another dog is sleeping, he coughs and makes strange noises, which can sound intimidating. He does not have separation anxiety, is not aggressive, doesn’t guard, or have sound sensitivity.

Home needs: Ollie needs a calm, quiet home where he can enjoy his remaining years, pottering in the garden, have gentle walks and plenty of company. He would probably be best as the only dog in the home. Older children would be fine. No cats.

Note: This is likely to be either a long-term foster or a supported adoption.

Ongoing support:  Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog
