A little bit about Heather –. She is a very bouncy, inquisitive, friendly girl. She has some manners, but is into everything, nothing is sacred! She is a counter surfer. She is not scared of loud noises, sirens etc. She is a typical youngster needing to have a job. She loves a cuddle.

Energy Requirements:  Heather is very energetic and appears to have boundless energy. Out for a short time pre- breakfast, breakfast, then an interesting walk on a long line for 45 mins minimum, back for a snooze on sofa or floor. She looks for human company during the day. She does play with toys, partly on her own, but also enjoys playing with humans. Walk again at about 5pm, lasting for approximately 45 mins on a long line. Last outing of the day is about 9pm. Heather is a cuddle monster likes being in contact with you. Currently Heather is visiting a dog park for free running and play twice a week.

Training:  Heather pulls on the lead, but her recall is very good. She does know her name, and will come when called and will sit. Heather needs to learn to be left on her own. Currently walked either on a long line or with a figure of 8 lead, she needs to learn to stop pulling.

Visiting the vet: Heather has had her routine health check and is fit and well. Her vaccinations are up to date. She behaved very well at the vet, was interested and inquisitive, and enjoyed all the attention.

Travelling:  Travels well in the car, initially in a crate in the back, now secured by a lead in the back of the car. Either sleeps or looks out of the windows.

Food: Heather has a sensitive gut; she has an intolerance to Poultry. Currently on Wainwrights Scottish Salmon with Superfoods.

Sleep:  Sleeps in her crate on the landing outside the bedroom.

Behavioural issues: She has some separation anxiety, and this will take time and patience to resolve. She is a counter surfer. She will chase birds. Heather struggles with being left, she has been getting left on her own in he crate for a short while and gradually increasing the time left. You cannot leave any food or anything that interests Heather within easy reach. She will chase birds on the ground and in the air.

Home needs: Heather needs a home where she will receive a lot of attention, she’s a young, bouncy, active girl who needs a large secure garden for running around and plenty of suitable off lead exercise. A rural or semi-rural location would be ideal.  She would be fine on her own but could also live with another friendly dog. Training will be essential for Heather as she needs to learn. Like all spaniels she has selective hearing. Heather will be rehomed with a neutering contract.

Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog
