A little bit about Mabel – she is a caring, attentive dog and is very people friendly. She responds well to a calm environment and a regular routine. She has settled into her foster home very well and is happy to get all the attention. Her fosterers say if you provide the love, she’ll repay with loyalty.

Energy Requirements:  Mabel enjoys her regular daily walks; she is currently used to walks lasting around 45 minutes. She is currently exercised at around 3 hours intervals. She currently has an early walk then breakfast, followed by a longer walk.

Training:  Mabel walks well on the lead, her recall is reported to be good unless distracted by something worth chasing. She is very keen to learn and is very good at Sit, Give Paw, etc.

Visiting the vet: Mabel behaves very well at the vet; she has had her routine health check and her vaccinations are up to date.

Travelling:  Mabel travels well in the car, in the boot behind a dog guard.

Food: Mabel has a sensitive digestion and is currently on wet food with kibble. She is not an enthusiastic eater, but she is in good condition and fit and well.

Sleep:  Mabel currently sleeps in the bedroom on her own bed. She would be up on her fosterer’s bed given half a chance!

Behavioural issues: Mabel does display some guarding, she will guard her ball, so she would be best as the only dog in the household. She also guards her home to some and needs a few minutes to accept visitors. If she meets visitors outside she is better and will then let them enter with no problems.

Home needs: Mabel needs an experienced, calm but reasonably active home. She would thrive in a rural or semi-rural environment, and would love a large secure garden to play in. She would need to be the only dog in the home. Older, calm children or teens would be fine.

Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog
