A little bit about Winston – Winston has come into foster through no fault of his own. He is a lovely young pup, described as happy, boisterous and busy. He loves meeting people and is catching up on his socialisation with other dogs. He has met several dogs while in foster, with no problems. He has also met younger children with no issues. He loves his toys and food, and likes lots of company. He is a confident, happy pup.
Energy Requirements: should be commensurate with his age.
Training: Winston will sit and give a paw. He is learning lots of new things in foster. He walks well on the lead. He has learned “wait” and “cross”. He is house-trained. He is very responsive to training.
Visiting the vet: Winston has had his health check and has passed with flying colours. He is vaccinated and microchipped.
Travelling: Travels very well in the car, he is used to being clipped with a seat belt harness, in the back with the seats down and toys to play with. He is not fazed by loud noises - he acknowledges them and goes on his way. He has not reacted to roadworks, heavy lorries, gritters spreading, bin men or even workers on scaffolding replacing a house roof! He’s interested but confident enough not to react.
Food: Purina Beta puppy food, 100g X 3 times a day.
Sleep: Winston sleeps very well, currently in the bedroom.
Behavioural issues: May have some separation anxiety. He becomes very vocal when his foster family are eating, and he will need some work on this. He picks up sticks and stones, so this will also need some attention.
Home needs: Winston needs an active home with someone around most of the time who can commit to continuing his training. He would be fine with another friendly dog to show him the ropes but would also be fine on his own as long as he has his humans around. No very young children as he can be quite boisterous.
Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog. Please note: Winston will be adopted with a contract to be neutered once he is old enough.
