A little bit about Piper –. Piper is a lovely affectionate spaniel, she gets on fine with other dogs in the house, she likes to be where you are preferably lying on your feet. Piper is a young playful spaniel, who loves a cuddle and attention, she is happy being with my dogs but would be ok as an only dog getting all the attention. She loves being out on walks exploring but will chase anything that moves. We are working on this and it will need to be continued in her new home. She loves being with you so would be better in a home where someone is around for most of the day. She loves water but hasn’t been swimming yet loves the hose pipe and helps to water the garden. She has been happy to meet dogs and people when out and is very friendly.
Energy Requirements: Piper gets up to 2 hour walk in the morning then 1/2 -1 hour in the evening.
Training: Piper walks well on the lead, and she has good recall off-lead. Piper will sit and stay, she gives a paw. Piper will chase birds, sheep, hares, etc so she is being trained to leave them, and also to come back to her fosterer rather than chase them, her hearing is selective when she chases, she can pull on the lead when she first goes out but can walk to heel when asked.
Visiting the vet: Piper has had her routine health check and is fit and well. Vaccinations are up to date. Piper was friendly with all the staff and behaved well whilst the vet examined her, a little bit nervous but happy after given a treat.
Travelling: Piper travels well in the boot of the car, she will cry now and again but this is getting better with some reassurance.
Food: Dry kibble twice per day. Piper gets breakfast first thing in a morning then we go for a long walk. During the day she tends to follow me around she likes to be with you, if I’m working she will lie under the desk and sleep. We have a shorter walk in the early evening then she gets her tea. She likes to play with her toys and a ball throughout the day but ball playing is restricted as she is ball obsessed and wearing her teeth down.
Sleep: Piper sleeps in her own bed beside her fosterer’s bed but would rather sleep on her fosterer’s bed! Her fosterer doesn’t let her and she is getting better at this.
Behavioural issues: None
Home needs: Piper could live with other dogs after careful introduction but would be fine on her own getting all the attention. She will thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time. She loves her walks, and playing in the garden.
Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog
