A little bit about Gigha: SRS Gigha is a friendly wee dog; she loves being with the family and cuddling up on the sofa. She is a busy dog who likes to check where you are in case she’s missing out on fun. She will lie down and chill for a while. She loves being out in the garden lying in the sun and having a wee wander about. SRS Gigha has little recall - that or she only returns when it suits her. She loves fetching a ball in the secure dog park and when she’s had enough, she takes her ball and lies down.

If SRS Gigha had her way she’d sleep on the bed beside her humans - she did this in her previous home - she currently sleeps in a cage near her human’s room and settles all night there with her teddy.

Home Life: SRS Gigha is house trained though prefers using the garden without the other dogs in her foster home being out with her. She’ll play happily with the other dogs it’s just she likes privacy for toileting.

She pulls a little on her lead though when told to heel she does. She loves a walk and sniffing out interesting smells. In a secure area she will respond to her name and come back (when she wants to). She enjoys a good walk each day and can now walk up to 4 miles. She’s equally happy playing in the garden and having a shorter walk.

SRS Gigha is in foster with two other dogs and has had no issues settling with them.

She pulls on her lead if she sees a cat while out walking.

She’s been fine with friends’ children who are primary school age and previously was used to grandchildren visiting.

When visitors come to her foster home, she welcomed them with lots of voicing about then settles for cuddles.

Visiting the vet: Gigha has had her routine health check while in foster and is fit and well. She was a little nervous but behaved very well.  Gigha will be adopted with a contract to be spayed once she has settled into her new home.

Behavioural issues:  No issues, just needs a bit of training to improve her recall.

Home needs: SRS Gigha is a lovely friendly dog who would fit into a home easily. She just loves cuddles and walks. She would be fine with another friendly dog. She would be equally happy on her own as the centre of attention. She would be fine with dog-savvy children aged 6 years +.

A home with someone around most of the time would be ideal, she does like company and regular walks. She would like a garden to potter about and play in.

Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.
