A little bit about Erin and Mimi – Erin is the mother of Mimi. They are a delightful pair of dogs, both very affectionate and eager to please. They both like nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa with you. They are boisterous, happy, funny and busy.

Home life: Both girls are house-trained and are used to full access to the home, including the furniture! They settle well in the house and enjoy exploring and playing in the garden. They are very inquisitive and follow you everywhere often getting under your feet, especially when in the kitchen. They are highly motivated by food and would benefit from slow feeder dog bowls. Initially they were put in their crate at family mealtimes but are now learning to give some space. Erin is gentle when taking treats, Mimi needs to be reminded to be gentle or else she snatches them from you.

Erin is partial to cardboard or tissue to carry around and then tear up. She will also play fetch occasionally with a soft toy bringing it back to you to throw again. Mimi is not keen to play (she prefers snoozing and cuddles) but will carry around a soft toy or sock to show off and get attention.

Both dogs are very affectionate, and Mimi especially likes to give doggy kisses. It is a work in progress to discourage this. Erin circles around the furniture or on the spot when excited.

They are a bit anxious at first when being left alone but soon settle. They can be left alone for up to 4hrs then Erin needs to wee although this isn’t an issue during the night while sleeping.

Getting Along with Others. They love meeting new people whether at home or on walks. They do jump up so this needs to be managed. They walk nicely alongside each other on the lead although they still manage to get tangled up. (It’s all part of the fun). They are good with other dogs. Erin is keen to meet and greet and is very gentle and calm in her approach while Mimi is a little nervous and tends to hang back initially but curiosity usually gets the better of her. They both show great interest in birds and squirrels and if not on the lead would likely chase them. They have only been off lead in the garden and secure field and when somewhere new they initially look for a way out. Recall is a work in progress.

Sleep and Resting: The girls will sleep contentedly in the crate at night but usually sleep on the sofa or chair in the lounge. They will also sleep happily with you on the bed if\when allowed.

Exercise and Travelling: Both girls travel well in the car and love going on adventures.

Behavioural issues:  There are no behavioural issues with this pair, although they have few boundaries and will need ongoing training.

Visiting the vet: The girls have had their routine healthchecks and have had their vaccinations brought up to date. They behaved very well at the vet, especially when treats were offered.

Mimi will be adopted with a contract to be spayed after her next season and once she is settled.

Home needs: Erin and Mimi will need a family experienced with the breed, committed to ongoing training. A very secure garden would be ideal, and access to interesting walks, although they may chase wildlife. They are fine with other dogs but would chase cats. Children 10 years and over who are used to boisterous dogs would be fine.

Ongoing support:  Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog.

Please do not express interest in Erin and Mimi if you are going on holiday in the next 6-8 weeks. They will be adopted as a pair.
