A little bit about Bear – Bear is a lovely young dog with lots of potential. He is a happy, boisterous and busy youngster. He loves people and is very friendly and excitable. He loves his toys and will happily bring one of them to you. He barks at delivery drivers and new people in the home, but other than that does not really bark.  Very affectionate and likes cuddles.

Energy Requirements. Bear is very energetic and needs lots of walks. This allows him to be chilled in the home.   He is currently walked as a minimum for 30 mins early morning.  1-2 hours mid-morning.  30 afternoon and 15 mins in evening.   Also, lots of garden toilet breaks in between.  With this he is able to chill in home and not be destructive.

Training: He responds well to training and has lots of potential.  He will wait for food.   He does like to jump; foster carers have been working on this.  Bear pulls on the long lead, especially if he sees a bird.  His short lead walking to heel is very good.  He responds well to his name and recall in secure garden setting is good.  Needs more training and reinforcement here to be off lead in a country setting as he loves to chase birds. He is keen to please and responds quickly to training.  Needs lots of reinforcement and commitment with his training.  He wants to be with his people, with training will be a great dog.

Travelling: Bear travels well, on the back seat clipped on with a harness, or in the back of the car.

Visiting the vet: Bear was very good at his routine healthcheck. He was curious but happy to get lots of pats and treats. He is a very fit young boy. Bear will be adopted with a contract to be neutered once he is settled.

Food: Bear is currently fed on Tails food.  He eats very well.  Twice a day.

Sleep:  Bear is currently sleeping in a utility room.  He settles very quickly.  Last toilet break at midnight and he is ok with no accidents  till 6:45.

Behavioural issues: Bear was known to chew his toys and beds, however since coming into foster and getting lots of exercise and company he has not destroyed anything. He likes to jump up and again this is being worked on in foster care. He is a very bouncy youngster, with a fabulous gentle nature.  He loves people and cuddles and when exercised enough, is happy to cuddle on the couch and sleep.   His toilet training is excellent especially as getting lots of walks.

Home needs: Bear needs an active home, with one or two people around most of the time. He will need regular daily exercise to burn off some of his energy, and a secure garden to play in. Someone with a commitment to continue his training would be essential as he has developed a few bad habits that need addressing, like jumping. He would be fine with older children. He would be fine as the only dog in the home and would also be fine with another relatively young dog for company.

Ongoing support: Springer Rescue for Scotland will be available for any support with your new dog and can offer behavioural support in case of any problems that may arise on adopting a dog
